Sending Relief Supplies to Guam - Typhoon Mawar
In the days leading up to Typhoon Mawar passing over the northern part of Guam, the House of Chamorros, along with many organizations on the island and around the world, began to mobilize. It’s been weeks since the islands were struck by the strongest Typhoon to rampage through the region in over 2 decades. In the days following, the assessments of damage quickly rose past the $100 million mark, and businesses, homes, and structures suffered catastrophic damage. Many people on the island still continue to struggle with basic access to water, food, shelter, and communications.
In the face of this new devastation, organizations like the House of Chamorros, Kutturan Chamoru Foundation, Sons and Daughters of Guam Club, Micronesia Climate Change Alliance, Inafamaolek.us, the Guam Club of Sacramento, and more began reaching out internally and to other organizations. The most recent result are the Matson containers filled with emergency supplies heading straight to Guam to support those most in need. The organizations were able to gather resources and coordinate donations and contributions across the state of California and beyond.
As each organization continues to speak with the Governor’s office, the Mayors Council, and other groups on Guam, we will all continue to do what we can to provide aide to those in need.
We humbly ask for your support and hope that you will donate to the relief efforts for those recovering from Typhoon Mawar.
Si Yu’os Ma’ase.
If you enjoy the work of the House of Chamorros, please consider making a donation.
