3.1 ELIGIBILITY
Any person of the Mariana Islands heritage, or any person of any ancestral lineage who supports the goals and bylaws of the House of Chamorros, demonstrates good moral and ethical integrity, believes in the principles of liberty and peaceful relations among all nations, and is willing to cooperate with others in fostering such principles, is eligible for membership.
In addition, any person who shares special interests in spreading the Mariana Islands cultural awareness, with others in the community, is eligible for membership.
3.2: CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP
- Each member shall promise allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, to abide by the approved By-Laws of the House of Chamorros, the By-Laws of the HPR (House of Pacific Relations), and local, State and Federal laws.
- Each member shall be involved in the activities of the House of Chamorros, including hosting in the House of Chamorros on Saturday or Sunday at least twice in the previous twelve (12) months, and should attend membership meetings, and participate in the HPR activities with a similar frequency.
- In order to vote, the member must meet the conditions stated under 3.2a and 3.2b above, must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, participate in the activities of the House of Chamorros for at least six (6) consecutive months and be current with the payment of annual membership dues. The membership annual period is Fiscal Year (October 1st to September 30th).
- The House of Chamorros shall maintain a minimum of 25 members, in good standing, in accordance with HPR.

On behalf of the HOC Board, we would like to express our appreciation to all of you for becoming active members of the House of Chamorros. Your status as active members reflects your strong support to ensure that the organization continues to meet its mission “to provide cultural and historical knowledge of the indigenous people of the Mariana Islands and to share our diversity with trust, understanding and thoughtfulness.”
One of the ways we meet our mission is through the Guma Cottage in San Diego Balboa Park, House of Pacific Relations International Cottages. The Guma Cottage is opened to the public during the day on Saturdays and Sundays. The Guma provides artifacts, books, video for visitors to learn about the Chamorro culture. Unfortunately, we are faced with the challenge of not having enough people to host the Guma Cottage each weekend.
We are reaching out for your assistance to offer your time at least twice a year (Saturday or Sunday) to host at the Guma to provide information and answer questions. The time you can spare and contribute is greatly needed and appreciated.
If you are not able to host at the Guma Cottage but able to volunteer for other activities, we welcome you to still submit a volunteer form.
